AC problems - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By 09chgrrt - September 20 - 1:13 pmI purchased the vehicle used with 9000 miles. As soon as the warranty ran out we had a power steering fluid leak. An after warranty recall was done on the rear evaporator of the AC system and that unit was replaced. The dealer returned the vehicle last spring stating the system to be working. Summer came and the unit would not blow cold air. Now the front receiver dryer needs replacement to the tune of $489.54. If the rear evaporator was flawed then it is safe to say Dodge equipped this vehicle with an inferior quality AC system.

Great American Vehicle - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By D_GC_Owner - August 23 - 6:26 pmThis is my third Dodge GC (93, 00, 06). Each one has improved over the last. Stow away seating is great, as are electric doors. The rear seats however had to be sized down to be able to store effectively. The cushion in the front seat lacks substance and the edge folds in occasionally as one enters the vehicle. Power is good, fuel economy was as expected-20mpg on average. Added sound absorption adds to the quiet ride ove the 00. The overall ride has improved. The instrumentation is clear. The 4-way flashers are activated whenever the side doors are opened as a safety feature.

Worst Van ever - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By kialover15 - August 18 - 7:10 pmBack in July of 2006, we bought a Dodge Grand Caravan, dumb move, it was terrible, we hated it! The ride was rough, seats were uncomfortable, visibility was awful, and we only got an average of about 13 mpg! Not good enough with these soaring gas prices. So after 13 months, we traded it in for a Kia Rondo, much much better.

Oil Burner - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By doug - July 9 - 10:46 pmI bought this vehicle new. What a mistake. After 20k it burns over 1qt of oil every 1000 miles, which Dodge says is NORMAL. The sunroof wont close if youre going faster than 20 mph. Again Dodge says this is normal and that you should have to pull over and stop to close your sunroof. Its a piece of junk. Dodge has turned me into a Honda/Toyota lover.

I should not have bought a dodge - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By dodgesucks3 - December 24 - 8:45 amBought used with 36,000 miles. It now has 44,000 . Both auto doors went out about a week apart. Lift gate will not stay open. Power driver seat stopped working. Breaks are way under sized for the weight of the vehicle and need to be replaced. I get a slight shutter and wine when turning. It was hard to start in the cold weather. I do like the stow n go seats but they are a but of a chore to stow them. The value for it has dropped so much that I cant even trade it in. No one wants it including me!

Better then most will admit - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By longhornfan1 - July 14 - 10:36 amRegardless of what is said online I have seen more dodge vehicles with over 200,000 miles on them then any other manufacture and that includes everyones beloved Honda. Dodge makes the best van for someone who wants reliable affordable transportation. This van has a great ride solid build and will not require a second loan if something does go wrong like the Honda would. My neighbor has one with 195K on it and plans to put 100 more. I have 36K and plan on 200K myself.

First Minivan - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By TBarwick - July 5 - 11:36 pmNever thought Id see the day, me, owning a Minivan of all things! Actually enjoying it - the space, nice ride, and mpg. Dealer has been great. I just need more horse power (used to V8!) but then Id be complaining about mpg right?

Rust badly! - 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
By oh_mom - June 30 - 1:40 amBought used in 2009 and started to rust badly around the wheel wells about a year later. It was still under warranty, so they repaired it, but it came back in the same place. They repaired it again and it came back yet again in the exact spot they "repaired." It is now out of warranty and the dealership wont return our calls. We contacted Chrysler and for the past 2 weeks, they have been "looking into it." The only other issue we have is that driver side passenger door sticks/jams upon opening. Overall, it seems to be mechanically solid. However, the rust issue is serious enough that we are looking at getting rid of it. And we will NEVER purchase a Chrysler product again.
